| so i realized that i freak out when people too actively pursue me online (not that this happens too often), and for reasons different than why i freak out if it happens in person. it's because since i don't know them at all, i don't know what their intentions are, and i automatically assume they are looking for some ho bag to hook up with. i feel like putting in my friendster profile 'interests' section "not being a ho (if you're just looking for a ho in your area code, don't holla this way)". i don't know if i have any real reason to assume this other than 1) why would someone be so persistent when they don't even know me (even though i know that people can build up delusions in their heads about how they think someone is, based on how they are on paper); and 2) there are a lot of ho's out there who let guys disrespect them, either out of ignorance or because they have mental issues and need help.
it's been bothering me a lot lately (as in, the past 5 years; nothing new/recent has happened to light this fire), and i think i've finally found a way to word it. it's just really disgusting that so many guys these days think that they are entitled to treat women disrespectfully. even the genuine and caring ones are starting to dip their toes into this realm, clearly not intending the hurt and disrespect - just out of ignorance. of course there are always the asses (or people who go through phases off being asses) that are just blase and inconsiderate and don't even stop to think about possible repercussions of what they're doing. but it's sad and scary that the good ones are moving over that way too. i just need to remember to steer clear of those types. it's difficult since they are so pervasive.
in unrelated news, i'm still sick. i heard a blurb on the news about RSV which is a resperatory virus that is going aruond the bay area and leaves people sick for 4-6 weeks. i think that's probably what i'm dealing with at this point. my first bout with illness wasn't this, since i had no lower resperatory symptoms, and i think i'm over that one since the plastic-wrap-type fatigue is gone. man, i'll be so pissed/sad/frustrated if i'm not better until february!!! 4-6 weeks!! maybe i'll heal faster since i already had an immune response going.
the absolute hardest thing about being sick for so long (56 days so far) is not being able to exercise. the second hardest thing is not being able to put in maximal effort at work.

| can i just say, i am so tired of being sick. i've been sick for 49 days. i think i must have had at least two but maybe three successive colds. i'm avoiding everyone like the plague for about a week, and staying far away from sick people after that, and not eaitng in public, and wildly sanitizing my hands from now on. i'm probably completely out of shape. lord only knows how my running will have suffered!! but at least i'm an eternal optimist. at least i know my spirit will bounce back. and i'll savor it even more when i'm back. but goodness. BOO for being sick. during all the holidays!!!

| i love how someone found my blog by doing a web search for 'carbs in a reeses cup', as if the carbs in that thing are the thing to worry about, lol!!
mausoleum party was bad, music was late, drunken undergrads bumping into everyone, no booze or food, i have high graduate student standards. :p rains party was slightly better, because there was free candy and more people i knew, but also not that much enthusiasm. geesh, peoples! where was the enthusiasm this year? next year i'll have a party at my place, and coordinate a trip up to castro. das da plan.
i'm keeping sooooooo busy these days, and it's soooooo nice. but consequently i'm sooooo tired. but morale is high. things just keep getting bettah!
i'm getting the results of my sleep study a week from thursday. november 9th. excitement! i still have electrode marks on my face. :p

| public service announcement #2 (or amendment to #1)- actually, shiratake noodles are even better and more pasta-like. :) and my new food obsession is pita pizzas with vegan cheese and pepperoni.
in other news. this year i'm dressing up as a CATION for halloween!!! i was thinking i'd be simple and be a cat like in kindergarten. then i was like, what words begin with cat? CATION! so i'm dressing up as a cat and wearing big pink plus signs on me. pictures to follow. :p
tonight is the mausoleum party, apparently people dance on/near graves of the stanfords or something? anyway, i don't know about that part, but i'm at least going to go and check out everyone's awesome costumes, maybe get some good ideas for next year. ;) someone told me they saw an awesome idea for a guys costume online - dress up as a big magnet and tape fake baby chickens to you - you're a chick magnet!!
tomorrow i'm completing my running goal for this week of 13 miles - so i only have 3 miles left to do, and i'll definitely exceed that by at least 1 if not 2. so i might just make my goal 15 miles for the next few weeks and work on speed. thennnn i have to do some labwork.... thennn i need to go get some running gear.... thennn maybe some tennis... thennn another halloween party!
ps- dating is fun, and yet stressful, all in one, but nice when you meet someone you actually like, but then stressful again when there are unknowns. :p

| let this just be a public service announcement about my new favorite thing, kelp noodles!!! BUY THEM! EAT THEM! they satisfy my need for pasta and huge quantities of food sans calories. a huge bowl of them is only 10 calories, and contains 20% of the RDA of calcium, and other minerals. they have the texture of slightly undercooked pasta. microwaving/boiling them longer might help. i've been adding peanut sauce, tomatos, and chicken breast and microwaving them. usually you don't have to cook them at all - just rinse and eat.
anyway, here are the ones i get (found at wholefoods out here): http://kelpnoodles.com/products_seatangle_noodles.html
enjoy!
